To you she may be an unfamiliar face, but to me she is the Posh Goddess of Posh Goddesses! She is the Co-Founder of BET, CEO of Salamander Hospitality LLC, a partner in a real estate development company, a partner of the NBA's Washington Wizards, a majority owner of the NHL's Washington Capitols and the WNBA's Washington Mystics, she sits on several boards, and she is a philanthropist and Global Ambassador for CARE a humanitarian organization whose mission is to fight global poverty.

In addition to this long list of accomplishments back in June (2007) she made history by purchasing Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Tampa, FL for $35 million. The 900-acre resort is a first class golf destination with four restaurants, six swimming pools, three conference halls, a nature reserve, eleven tennis courts, and 620 rooms. This is the first deal of its kind for an African American woman.

This is so inspiring I had to share it. I first read about Mrs. Johnson's expansion of her portfolio in Janaury 2008 issue of Black Enterprise magazine. I know that all my dreams and goals are achieveable. Actually I've known that for a while but every now-and-then we all need that extra reminder that we can truly do what ever we set our minds to. The only thing is we MUST take action immediately and not put the things and goals that are important to us on hold. We must also believe in ourselves and surround ourselves with positive, progressive people that can cheer us on and support us throughout the journey.

I started reading this wonderful magazine called Pink I have absolutely fallen in love with it and wish I would have picked it up sooner! I will probably blog more about it later in the week but to sum it up quickly: Pink is a national magazine for today's business woman (current and apiring) it addresses their unique needs, interests, ambitions and accomplishments; while providing a road map for others who aspire to do great things with their lives too. I am going to keep this entry brief because I really want to honor Dr. King. This weekend was not long enough! Beautiful had her first fever of 101.9 degrees. So of course like a new mother I panicked (she's a little over 11 months old!). I called her doctor Friday evening and she directed me to get some children's motrin, and give her a warm bath and repeat this over the weekend until the virus was out of her system. So of course that is what I did! Her father and I began cleaning the basement which I thought would only be a 3 or 4 hour project, but is looking more like a three or four day project! So anyway I think that's it's important to honor and recognize Dr. King on this day so I'm am going to leave a quote of his that I like and perserve his legacy.

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. The true neighbor will risk his position, his prestige, and even his life for the welfare of others. In dangerous valleys and hazardous pathways, he will lift some bruised and beaten brother to a higher and more noble life."

I am truly grateful for everything that Dr. King stood for and what he accomplished in his lifetime!

Anything is possible! Just ask Ms. Oprah Winfrey. She's a dreamer's role model, and entrepreneur's inspiration and success story, and an unbeliever's proof that there is light at the other side of the tunnel! {Not to mention the ultimate Posh Goddess (tm)!!!} Ms. Winfrey just recently announced that she is launching her very own cable channel next year after June 2009 with Silver Spring, MD's Discovery Communications conglomerate. This network titled OWN (Oprah Winfrey's Network) will present and feature Oprah's visions and ideas, unlike the Oxygen network of which Oprah was merely an investor. She will serve as the co-owner and the chairman of the network. Go Oprah! Way to start of the new year. Hit the ground running and don't look back! Only focus on the future at hand. So yes indeed anything is possible as long asl you claim and maintain your position as the driver of your own destiny. For if you are in fact the passenger of your own life you'll only go as far as someone else's dreams and goals; someone else's journey. You'll never feel happy or complete until you hop into the driver's seat and steer the wheel. Control your life~ don't be controlled! Start right now jotting down your long-term and short term dreams and goals. Use this as your guide/path to success. Call it your blueprint or map. All of us that drive knows there are times when we get lost, reach dead ends, or find that certain streets have changed names or don't exist. When that happens we simply back track and get back on the right path. Do the same with your life. Get out your map (dream/goals/life plans) and back track to get back on the right path. Drive your way to the success that you know you are capable of obtaining. And remember: Anything is Possible...because it is!!!

Happy Late New Year!

I know! I know! I'm super late with the whole 'Happy New Year' bit but, you know what they say: "Better late than never!" This has already been and will continue to be a wonderful and prosperous new year! Posh Goddess (tm) is doing so well! I am going to continue to expand upon it. I have big things in store for 2008 and the years to come. Be sure to check out this week's wonderful Posh Goddess (tm) Joan Baker she is drop dead gorgeous, inspirational, and very successful! All the necessary elements for being a Posh Goddess (tm). Particularly the successful part.

My daughter, Beautiful is doing wonderful! She'll be eleven months tomorrow. It's funny how time flies. Her father and I couldn't be more proud of her. We are still deciding exactly what we are going to do for her very first birthday. We know that it is going to be intimate with only family members, but we still need to plan for the day. Her Ma-Z (our name for grandmother pronounced muzzy) wants her to have a designer cake. I want something simple! I think we'll compromise and she get the cake of her choice and I get mine ~ two is better than one! (or is it?) Whatever happens I'll be sure to let you know.

Brandy Adamson of Alive Incorporated and also a Posh Goddess that has been featured, emailed me about being featured in her magazine in February, luckily for me I checked my email a day before the deadline! So so it isn't just the blog I have been neglecting it's everything computer related! What can I say I have been super busy, busy, busy. If I had six arms I still would have been to busy to be on the computer! Success = Busy! Busy! Busy! But anyway I got the necessary info to her today before five and I will keep you posted when that feature is published.

The writer of Da Vinci's Blog which I just so happen to love by the way contacted me on my myspace page for friendship and to inform me about her blog. Unbeknownst to her I am already a fan! I did inform her though that I am already a fan and that she has my support. Check her blog out when you get a chance!

I am cooking dinner and it's pretty much done (always multitasking!) so I'm leaving you that fast! But I promise to be back possibly tomorrow and one of my new years resolutions is to be more consistant with these blog entries!

Dress for Success!

I know it's been a couple days! But I have a been super busy (as always!) but what can I say? I'm a mom, a business woman, and it's the Holidays! so you can believe there's been plenty of hustle and bustle around here. I found time to sneak in an entry though. Last night I was watching t.v. with my daughter and I saw this PSA for the organization Dress for Success given by Iman. A while back I came across an organization does something similar to this one but I never looked further into it and I was very interested. So today I looked up the organization online and I was so impressed! Dress for Success is an international non-profit organization. They specialize in promoting, "economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life." I absolutely love this organization and what they do. I will be volunteering ASAP! I will find the time in my busy schedule to support this cause. Finding this organization is my Christmas present to myself. I want to ultimately tie Posh Goddess™ strategically to this wonderful organization. On the website http://www.dressforsuccess.org it states that to date they have helped nearly 400,000 women towards self-sufficiency, since opening its doors in New York in 1997. They have expanded to more than 85 cities in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and the UK. I got the clip above from Youtube that further explains what the organization is all about. I was reading an article in the Baltimore Sun newspaper this morning that grabbed my attention! It was called "The Midas Touch" written by Tanika White. Basically a Japanese skin care company called UMO introduced the concept of 24K gold facials within the past year here in the States! During the process thin gold sheets are applied to the client's face until it is full covered in gold. After that application the gold is then steamed and massaged into the skin until the gold almost disappears. This has been research over the years in countries such as; Europe, Asia, and the Middle East according to the article. It is perfectly safe (people who tend to be allergic to gold are allegic to that which has been mixed with some other element such as nickel~i.e. 10K, or 18K) and it hydrates moistens, and tightens the skin in ways that many other treatments can't. If you are able to locate an aesthician that is properly trained and offers this 'golden' service it can hit your wallet anywhere from $250 to upwards of $550. I will be scheduling my appointment in the near future, I've just got to know what that feels like afterwards! All the reviews have been very favoring. Though there hasn't been much research yet, there is talk that Cleopatra recieved these golden facial treatments which I'm sure contributed to her flawless appearance! The Dance that is sweeping the nation!!!

This was sent to me by a friend I have on facebook a few days ago! It truly is a the dance that's sweeping the nation! People of all ages, color, and ethnicities can be seen doing it everywhere. Today was the feature day for Posh Goddess™ of the Day http://poshgoddessoftheday.blogspot.com/ and I must admit I am super excited! I think that the overall look and feel of the site is essentially what I'm aiming for, for all the lovely Posh Goddesses out there. I mean I would like to change the skin or template but every time I go to do so I run into so many problems so I just let it be. Maybe one of you savvy tech Posh Goddesses can give me some tips on how to get it to work! I really like the talking lady on there though I think she adds character! She's like my own personal internet secretary! Well anyway our feature of the week is the lovely Julie Lenzer Kirk. My advice for today is to continue to network, network, network! There are so many fabulous people out there that you can help and they can help you too! Even if it is farther down the line. Take the time out to introduce yourself to other and make small talk you never know where the conversation will end up! Perfect example, today the cable man came over to fix one of our digital cable boxes and honestly he had been to my house before but we didn't talk much. Today when he came over I made it a point to make some form of small talk and as luck would have it. It turns out he is also a DJ and he does weddings and events! So we exchanged info (remember I am also the director of marketing for Pearls of Wisdom LLC an upscale event management firm) and that was that. A network is only as powerful as the people in it! So branch out and build relationships with talented, successful people! Together you and your network can go places! Have a great evening and tune in tommorrow for more!

Superwoman

I took some time off, but I'm back! I have been so busy, busy, busy! Thanks to all the Posh Goddesses out there that have showed that they are interested with what I am trying to do! I'm doing this for us!

Yesterday during my stop to pick up diapers, baby food, and toiletries; I purchased Alicia Keys new album As I am. I am already a big fan of hers, I absolutely love this album! Every track had something I could relate to or wouldn't mind listening to. I don't really have a favorite but I must say that I dedicate her song Superwoman to ALL the Posh Goddesses out there! If you haven't already purchased it be sure to do so in the very near future! It is definitely worth it. She is so talented and beautiful. We all are in our own ways though, you may not be a singer or a songwriter (or you maybe!) but if you figure out what you are good at and hone in on those skills and perfect it, like Ms. Keys you'll always give a #1 performance and shine doing exactly what you know and love! Go for it! Reach for the moon because even if you miss you'll still be among the stars!

This is my 9 month-old daughter, Beautiful dancing! She loves to dance. She's been dancing, since she was 8 months. I took the day off today it was our first snow of the season and I wanted to spend time with my family. So that is exactly what I did! My daughter has been walking since she was eight months and going up the steps since she was 7 months! I have footage of that also. Check her out!

Business as Usual!

I have been so busy lately! From the my daughter (who by the way hasn't been cranky since I first mentioned it), to the events with Pearls of Wisdom LLC, volunteering, answering emails and reading applications from Posh Goddess™ of the Day applicants, even making sure that I input an entry in this blog! Not to mention cooking, cleaning, and everything else! But I honestly can't complain I'd rather have way too much to do then not enough or nothing at all! I again want to thank all the interested applicants and I encourage you ladies to continue to spread the word! The other blog officially launches (with content) next week. I am so excited. I really want to see everyone do well. Women need to stick together and excel!

Can you believe Christmas is right around the corner? The years just seem to fly by now! I saw those coach signature boots (http://www.coach.com/) up there and they just screamed Posh Goddess™! I just had to have them I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Well I would love to stay and chat it up but I have to cook din-din and finish going through these apps!

Today has been a great day! I check my email and there was a ton of mail from wonderful business women inquiring about being a Posh Goddess™! I am so excited! I knew that there would be some interested but I didn't know how soon and I didn't know how many! The internet is wonderful! Today has been crazy and typical all at the same time! Well hello and welcome to my new blog! I am creating this blog to track the events of my life! I am a successful business woman with a precious little girl (pictured above; she's nine months and her name is Beautiful Michaela). I want to share my adventures with other business women that are Posh Goddesses like myself. So what exactly is a Posh Goddess™? In a nutshell, me. But you may be a Posh Goddess™ yourself or know someone that is. In short she is a smart, sophistcated, and stylish business woman. A Posh Goddess™ knows what she wants and knows how to get it! Let's define each word:

posh (adj): luxurious, elegant, smart, and fashionable

goddess (n): A woman of extraordinary beauty, charm, and grace.
A woman that is admired or adored.

So if that is you great! This could be the start of a great friendship. In this blog I will be discussing business, trends, day-to-day events in my life, and other random topics.
